Opening Ceremony and APAO Named Award Lectures |

The Opening Ceremony of the 34th APAO Congress is scheduled for
16:30 on Wednesday, March 6, in Plenary Hall 2. In addition to
speeches from Guests of Honor and a special performance, APAO honors
individuals for their exemplary leadership and significant
contributions in advancing ophthalmology at the prestigious named
award lectures during the annual Congress.
This year, four illustrious ophthalmologists are recognized for
their outstanding efforts in the field. The winners and their
respective Awards are as follows:

APVRS – AAPPO Joint Session:
Meeting the World Celebrities & Eye Masters
Mar 7 (Thu), 16:30 – 17:30 (Auditorium)
Moderated by Profs Neil Bressler and Dennis Lam, the APVRS
(Asia-Pacific Vitreo-retina Society) – AAPPO (Academy of
Asia-Pacific Professors of Ophthalmology) joint session is aimed at
giving young ophthalmologists opportunities to interact and learn
from outstanding leaders in the field.
6 eye masters including Profs David Chang, Sonal Farzavandi, Suber
Huang, Richard Parrish II, Marie-José Tassignon and Ningli Wang will
share their personal experience, tips, advice and aspiration. Profs
Neil Bressler and Dennis Lam will also ask them insightful
questions, and invite them to share their thoughts and comments on
views of world celebrities. |

APAO 2019 Charity Run: Run for Sight! Run for Life! |
|
Event Date: Mar 8 (Fri), 06:00-08:00
The 4th APAO Charity Run will be held at the beautiful
Benchakitti Park adjacent to QSNCC. It covers a 5.4 km route around
a beautiful lake. Funds raised will support the relief efforts for
the massive destruction caused by the 7.5-magnitude earthquake in
Indonesia’s Central Sulawesi province through the Indonesian
Ophthalmologists Association, as well as to improve the overall
environment and hygiene at the Thammasakon Hatyai School for the
Blind in Thailand.

Make sure to download the APAO Congress Mobile app to enjoy its
interactive features at the APAO 2019 scientific sessions!
(supports both ios and android devices)
Besides the live audience polling feature, delegates could also
submit their questions via the app in real-time, and read other
questions that have been submitted during the sessions. Session
chairs will be keeping track of the questions, and select the most
important ones to the audience for discussions.
